GarageBand For Windows

While there's no windows version of GarageBand, it's possible to find some DAW that look very similar to GB and one that caught my attention is Acoustica Mixcraft 4.

I've discovered Mixcraft when I was browsing the web searching for a GarageBand alternative for Windows. I've decided to download it and give it a try. I was so impress by this little piece of software that I bought it without any hesitation especially at such a low price.

So I though it would be a good idea to let you know about it because I know I'm not the only one searching such a software. For more info click here.

Mixcraft 4 has clearly been influenced by GarageBand in terms of both visual appearance and functionality. Everything in the program is displayed in a single screen, the majority of which is taken up with the Sound Workspace.

It works pretty much as you'd expect. Plug-ins in VST and DirectX formats are supported.

MIDI and virtual instrument support is the only big new feature in Mixcraft 4. You can record and play back MIDI data, and there's an all-new piano roll editor.

It`s a surprisingly well featured, very capable DAW platform that just continued impressing me with how good it is for the price.

I keep using words like "impressive"- and I should. It`s what really struck me about Mixcraft 4. That Acoustica has included so many features that aren`t only good, but they sound good as well. Still, I`d better balance the books with a few complaints.

One drawback is that it you can't control VST parameters directly from it, so this would be a nice addition for an update and you don`t get the more complex editing functions, the MIDI filters that others have.
